File Preparation

Detailed technical guidelines for designers and DTP studios. Correct file preparation guarantees the highest print quality.

1. File formats and colors

  • Preferred format: optimized multi-page PDF (no lossy compression, no layers).
  • Raster formats accepted: TIFF (LZW compression, flattened) and EPS/AI.
  • Files must be prepared in the CMYK color space (Coated FOGRA39 profile).
  • Pantone colors will be automatically converted to CMYK equivalents via Caldera RIP. Spot colors (e.g., White ink) must be defined as a spot channel.

2. Bleeds, margins and finishing

  • For large format prints (banners, mesh, textiles) intended for welding or hemming, we recommend 5 cm mirror bleeds on each side.
  • Safe margin: Important logos and texts should be placed at least 5-10 cm from the net cutting line.

3. Cut Contour and markers

  • For rigid materials cut on plotters (e.g., Bullmer), the cut line must be a closed vector.
  • The cutting path must be assigned a spot color named CutContour (set to Overprint).
  • For OptiScout vision systems, do not place important elements in the corners where registration marks are generated.

4. Fonts and bitmap resolution

  • All texts must be converted to curves/outlines.
  • Bitmap resolution (DPI) should be adjusted to the final format:
    • Close print (up to 2 sqm): 150 - 300 dpi (1:1 scale)
    • Medium formats (e.g., 3x2m, roll-ups): 72 - 100 dpi (1:1 scale)
    • Billboard print (e.g., 12x4m): 30 - 50 dpi (1:10 scale)
